Coheed and Cambria was created after Claudio Sanchez and
Travis Stever broke away from a band entitled Toxic
Parents in 1995. They picked up Jon Carleo for a bass
guitarist. This is a picture of the band right after
Nate Kelley joined as their drummer ..

After Jon and Nate joined the band, they started calling
themselves Shabűtie.
Which means "Naked Prey" as in the movie with the same
title. While they were called Shabűtie,
they made roughly two EP Cds. Together the two EPs made
up a collection of about ten songs. One of the more
known songs that they did is entitled Star Cecil. Not
long after the Shabűtie
era began, it ended. While they were Shabűtie,
many changes were upon them, Stever left the band making
them a trio. In 1996 Kelley left after recruiting
Michael Todd, and Stever rejoined shortly after, making
them a four man band once again. Even after all of
the members came back, they changed their name to
Beautiful Loser.
The name Coheed And Cambria came from Claudio walking
into practice one day and he had Coheed And Cambria
written all across his t-shirt.
